Saudi police arrested an Arab man and his Indonesian wife minutes after their marriage for violating immigration rules in the Gulf Kingdom.
The couple had just signed the marriage contract and were about to be taken in a motorcade by friends to a hotel for the wedding, to which they had invited more than 150 people. As they got into the car, police jumped on them.
?At the hotel, the news arrived that the man and his wife were arrested, triggering a stampede by the guests,? Alsaudeh Arabic language daily said in a report from the eastern town of Dammam.
?The guests began fleeing to avoid being prosecuted for hiding information that the couple violated immigration rules.?
The paper did not identify the man but said he was staying in the country illegally. The Indonesian maid had also absconded from her employer.
