We value information sharing so that we can empower, communicate, and educate ourselves. We need a Technical Writer to help us maintain, organize, and publish the important technologies and updates that are coming from our Engineers. You will collaborate with Engineers, Product, and Developer Relations teams in order to document GREE?s technology including user manuals, engineering systems, and tools. You will play a critical role in standardizing our information architecture.

What you get to do every day:

  • Write and edit documentation for Gaming Platform APIs and developer user guides in an accurate and concise fashion
  • Create content in HTML, code in Javascript and other content editors like CMS, and generate software reference documentation in Javadocs and Doxygen
  • Attend project meetings with Developers, Product Managers, and Customer Support in order to generate new documents, update existing documentation, and scope projects
  • Ensure the technical quality of our API documentation and improve user experience
  • Create wiki pages in Confluence and generate flowcharts in Gliffy and OmniGraffle
  • Meet with Product Managers and Engineers in order to create content for feature releases, integration, and installation documentation
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify process holes, ensure the content needs of our users, and organize our information architecture
  • Track down Subject Matter Experts in order to obtain in-depth information on a variety of topics for internal and external documentation pushes
  • Work with colleagues in virtually every discipline and department across the company
  • Research and document new features for software products
  • Maintain content standards and consistency throughout our knowledge base
  • Work in a fun environment with talented people and contribute to the overall goals of the company

What you bring to the role:

  • BA/BS in English, Communication, Journalism, Human Computer Interaction or a related technical field with at least 5 years of experience writing technical content such as developer guides, API documentation, and integration guides (provide writing samples of your work)
  • Strong analytical skills synthesizing highly complex technical material into concise, accessible, and understandable content
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of working in XML and HTML
  • Experience editing Javascript files and working with content editors like CMS
  • Able to make engineering templates for software releases and user-facing features
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team across multiple departments within the company
  • Enthusiastic about learning and understanding new products and technology
  • Able to meet deliverables and specified timelines
  • Willing to present ideas and solutions to various audiences, including senior management
  • Passionate about mobile social gaming and interested in technology in general
  • Speaking Japanese is a HUGE plus
  • Experience writing for a tech website, blog, or other publication is preferable
  • Able to think outside the box and maintain an upbeat, collaborative work ethic where you take ownership of your responsibilities and have fun!
