Are you a committed gay or lesbian couple? Are you also ready to make Yuma history?
?
Over the years Yuma has seen human and civil rights activists establish the first HIV Awareness seminars; create a GLBT civil and human rights group; bring the murderer of a gay young man to justice; be part of an award winning documentary; help students at a local high school form the first Gay Straight Alliance; and, launch the first PFLAG Yuma non-profit.
?
On Monday, December 10, 2012 ? United Nations Human Rights Day ? Yuma gay and lesbian history will be made again! There will be a public celebration and affirmation for committed gay and lesbian relationships. This is a non-religious experience.
?
If you, as a committed gay or lesbian couple, wish to register to be part of this joyous and historic Yuma occasion, contact Alberta Wallace by email at pastoralberta@uccyuma.org or leave a message at 928-328-8133.
?
Timely registration is important and includes meeting with one of the facilitators to share your love story, determine how many friends and family you will ?invite and to make sure you are prepared for a public affirmation. There will be a modest fee per couple to cover the cost of music, food, photography and a memento of your celebration.
?
Human Rights Day is an occasion for people worldwide to know and consider the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.
?
Joining together to mark Human Rights Day in Yuma are the United Church of Christ, Unity and The Amancio Project.
