Small Business Uses Saavy Tech Tools to Lure Holiday Shoppers

For many, the holiday season means more shopping and more competition for your money. One small business owner is trying to get ahead off the pack by stepping outside traditional ads hoping to boost their bottom line.

As if clothes weren't enough to draw Jzade Forte into RK Collections, she says a simple text alert does it nearly every time.

"Momma let's go, lets go now, I love this store," Forte says describing her reaction to an RK sale alert on her phone.

"It keeps me updated, I've never missed a sale, I come up here every time they have a sale," she says.

Owners hope those messages are enough make RK Collections a contender in the fight for business with big retailers.

"It's difficult obviously because of the bulk they get them at a lower price point which makes their bottom line lower," says co-owner Robby Lawrence.

To push their name higher on shoppers' lists, Lawrence says they rely on their personal touch.

"When you know everyone on a more personal level and you get something you know a customer might like you can go directly to their Facebook page and post it, where I doubt big retailers have the time," Lawrence says.

It's that one on one attention-shoppers like Forte pay back with interest.
