The true spirit of Christmas is the spirit of giving and several South Orange business,? including Eden Marketplace,? Sparkhouse kids, The UPS store and the Fire station, have been collecting toys to give to children in the community.
At Eden Marketplace one employee, Phyllis Odom, who you might recognize as one of the faces behind the deli counter, took it a upon herself to organize a toy drive at the marketplace. Phyllis felt very strongly about making a difference and wanted to have a big impact on family?s that are not as fortunate so they can enjoy Christmas.
Phyllis has been running toys drives in Newark area the past couple of years and wanted to bring the spirit of giving to Eden Marketplace. Over the past couple of years she has developed a direct relationship with the Newark YMCA, Project Solution and Harmony House and has asked those organizations and underprivileged families to pick up the toys in the Eden Marketplace Parking lot.
As of Tuesday night over 200 toys were donated! If you would still like to donate a toy it is not too late! Please drop your unwrapped toy in the marketed boxes in Eden Marketplace?s floral department.
Toys were distributed last night and will be given out again today between 1 pm ? 4 pm in the garage located behind Eden Marketplace.
